This tool kit is the only readily available set designed for accessing some Ariens/Gravely spindle bearings for replacement.

It is designed for spindles with part numbers:

Kit does not contain spindle or a vise.

This kit is only designed for some Ariens/Gravely residential spindles and will not work with spindles used on commercial mowers.

Quantity

Face pin spanner wrench with 1/4" pins and 2.75" pin center-to-center distance for spindle pulley.

Spindle fixture for spindle blade driver. (Contains 5/16" undersized pins with a pin center-to-center distance of approximately 1.2")

Spindle supports for pressing spindle shaft out of spindle assembly for cases wherein pressing is necessary.

Two sealed Peer 6203 bearings (Separate kit with bearings).
Vise for holding spindle fixture:

Pull handle for added leverage on spanner wrench handle. (A steel pipe with a minimum inner diameter of 1.75" and a minimum length of 2 ft will work.)

Two sealed 6203 bearings to replace original bearings (if not included in kit).
Remove blade from spindle assembly.

Remove spindle assembly from mower deck.

With dowels of spindle fixture facing upwards, secure spindle fixture in vise and tighten vise securely.

Place spindle onto fixture with dowels fully engaging blade driver.

Use face pin spanner wrench and rotate pulley and shaft counterclockwise to unscrew blade driver from spindle shaft. A wrench handle extender will be required to obtain enough leverage to loosen pulley. Note: Spindle may have been assembled with loctite and continued resistance may be felt when loosening pulley.

If spindle shaft cannot be removed by hand, secure spindle housing supports to spindle.

With spindle assembly up-side-down, use supports to support assembly while pressing shaft out of spindle.
